COURSE OUTLINE

  • The course introduces students to basic research writing methodologies and involves hands-on exposure to data collection, data analysis/interpretation, and structuring.
  • The project commences by the construction of a team of students who are allowed to interact with each other as well as their mentors, in an intellectually influenced environment.
  • The project involves active communication through social media with the classes being held on virtual platforms like Zoom and Google Meet.
  • One lecture is held per week, proving the lecture to be flexible and pertaining to the schedules of the students themselves.
  • The students are also given access to recorded lectures, PowerPoint presentations, and notes thereby assuring rightful compensation if anything is missed.
  • Towards the end, although the students are educated on the publication process and are free to approach PubMed Indexed journals of their choice, beginners are encouraged to publish in a highly reputed PubMed Indexed student friendly medical journals.
  • The mentors are actively involved in proofreading and editing the manuscript of their respective students before manuscript submission to the journal.
  • Despite covering the basics for the publication and submission of manuscript to journals, the course does not guarantee publication as it is at the liberty of the journal and the credibility of the student’s paper. Nonetheless, all our students have attained multiple publications as first authors plus co-authors and are currently working on a higher standard of research projects.

FAQs

Will our mentors be allotting us topics?

No. Your mentors will teach and assist you in identifying and choosing the right topic for your specialty. If you cannot arrive at a final topic, you will be provided one by your mentor.

How much time should I be giving this project?

We recommend giving your article approximately 10-12 hours per week.

What if I miss a class?

All lectures are recorded and the students are given access to recordings, notes, and slides. So, if anyone misses a class due to any personal/unfortunate circumstances, they can access the recordings anytime they wish.

Is the publication of my review article guaranteed through this project?

No. Although we do offer education on the publication process and encourage students to publish in PubMed Indexed journals, the project does not offer a guaranteed publication as it is a multifactorial and subjective process. Nonetheless, all our students have been successfully published in PubMed Indexed journals with the help of our mentors. Why do you charge a fee?

We focus on a large volume of publications and our mentors ensure quality by custom tailoring the project according to every student’s application with regards to specialty, topic selection, one-on-one coaching, etc. Our competitors charge a fee ranging from 800-3000$ for the same project and compared to that we have made the fee as minimal as possible just enough to cover editing and professional costs making it accessible for medical students.

What are the payment options available?

We have multiple payment options including Gpay, Zelle, Stripe, Paypal, etc. Every student will be contacted on a personal basis to explore the most feasible payment option and addressed accordingly.

I have limited financial resources. Are there any discounts offered?

Discounts are offered on successful referrals to friends/colleagues in the forms of coupons/reimbursements and will be allotted on a case-by-case basis. We DO NOT have options for group discounts. Please be professional and DO NOT emphasize more discounts.

Are there any other costs involved?

Depending upon the journal chosen by the student, the Preferred Editing Charges/Publication Fee required by the journals are to be paid by the authors. We don’t play any role in the transfer or conduct of the editing fee to the journals and maintain strict transparency with the students.

How often do these projects happen?

These projects keep happening on a regular basis depending on the availability of our mentors. Please contact us to enquire about any upcoming projects and you will be informed about the possibility and vacancy in a project.

I have an exam coming up in the next two months. Should I be doing this project?

For students having major personal reservations such as exams in the next two months, we voluntarily ask the students to refrain from taking on this project as we believe that the student should be 100% focused on the respective exam. The students are more than welcome to join projects after their exams after enquiring about the possibility of a project in the near future.

What is the significance of the Orientation class?

The first class is totally free of cost and is called ‘Orientation Class’, where the students are given a comprehensive and detailed overview of the entire project. After that, a window period of 5-7 days is provided to the students until the payment date to consider if the project would be a right fit for them.

Do I get any additional benefit out of this project in the future?

Yes, our doors are always open for you to come back and eventually collaborate over more research projects. Our previous students are also eligible for discounts for future workshops organized by Gray Matter.

I am well versed with the methodology and structuring of a review article. How will this project benefit me?

If you are already experienced in basic research writing methodologies and have published before, this project will benefit you into getting additional publications by collaborating papers with other students.

Will this project help me publish independently in the future?

Yes, all our students graduate from this course with multiple publications confident enough to publish independently in the future.
